What is a Presidential Preference Primary Election?

An election held to elect one person in each party to be that party's nomination for the office of President of the United States. Only voters registered within the party of the candidates running are eligible to vote on that contest.

As a reminder, by law, Florida is a closed primary state. Voters may only vote for candidates within their party of registration, therefore only registered Republicans will be able to vote on the Republican candidates and only registered Democrats will be able to vote on the Democrat candidates.
